My passion for Indian food comes from my student days in England-Exeter.

I have experienced the most magnificent curries ever. In England at the time, there was a boom in Indian restaurants, with magnificent offers. It was a feast to the senses. These were years of unique gastronomic and cultural discovery. This reminded me, that I must publish the samosas that I learned to make, with my friend from Pakistan Nambila! ( noted)

But let us focus onto this very Portuguese restaurant.

We are at Gilão restaurant. It inherits its name from the river that crosses the city of Tavira. The restaurant is by the harbour and the city fish market. This restaurant, that enchanted me with the pleasant surprise of "Chamuças de Cavala" ( Mackerel Samosas), is a new wave restaurant, with new Portuguese cuisine, creative and pleasant!

There is also the octopus tempura with sweet and spicy sauce. A couple of good reasons to visit. It has a fantastic terrace, where it is possible to drink a beer and eat a samosa! The crunchiness of the samosa, the ginger flavours and the texture of the mackerel, make this experience a summer tradition for our family.

Visit Tavira, it is quite charming! It has all the beauty of a city bathed by the Ria Formosa, with medieval houses and bridges. There are a number of cafes and pastries, with lots of energy, with lots of new restaurants. You can feel multiculturalism in the air, you can hear several languages when visiting Tavira. The eastern Algarve is a pleasant surprise!

Come discover it!
